Isang Anonymous Donor Ang Nagbigay Ng Napakalaking Halaga Ng Pera Para Mailigtas Ang Isang Premature Kid Na Ipinanganak Sa UAE.
If you’ve ever been abroad by yourself, you’d know how disconcerting it is to be away from family and friends who could extend their help at a moment’s notice. It’s difficult to rely on the kindness of strangers for extreme situations — matters of life and death. Filipino couple Romeo and Charmyl Meneses learned that it’s not impossible, though. After all, an anonymous donor saved their baby’s life when he needed it most.
Anxiety crept up on the couple when they had to deliver their precious Baby Ethan at 23 weeks, when babies are usually born ater around 38-40 weeks, sometimes even 42 weeks.
Due to being born premature, Ethan had to spend the first few weeks of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Despite this, he suffered from bronchopulmonary dysplasia, like many prematurely-born infants.
Various complications marred the young baby’s life, and doctors had to conduct multiple operations to ensure that his condition would stabilize. The distraught parents agreed to it all — anything for their little bundle of joy. It didn’t take long before the hospital bills started to pile up; intensive care wasn’t cheap at all!
Now, the two were not made of gold, which is why they sought the help of anonymous donors via the media — Gulf News, specifically.
A lot of well-meaning people extended help, and together they pooled PHP 85,300 — a far cry from the PHP 7-million total bill they’d had racked up.
Fortunately, a rich businessman took it upon himself to cover the bills. The anonymous donor reportedly paid the hospital PHP 6.8 million pesos to fully cover Baby Ethan’s bills.
The couple, of course, couldn’t be more grateful. Netizens, for their part, couldn’t be more awed:
