Remember Hopia, the adorable chubby kid from Goin’ Bulilit? She was in the same batch as Teen Queen Kathryn Bernardo and actress Julia Montes. While her colleagues decided to pursue their careers in showbiz, Hopia decided to pursue her studies. In fact, she had just earned her bachelor’s degree from Miriam College. Feel old yet?

Hopia took up Communication Arts in Miriam College, finally getting herself a diploma, much to her parents delight. Now that she is an adult, Hopia told PUSH that her showbiz comeback would be marked by more mature roles, a far cry from her cute and sweet image as a child star. In fact, she has even adopted a new screen name!

In the same interview, Hopia shared:

“Mas sanay talaga sila don sa mataba na ako, ‘yung Hopia na nakilala nila. Hindi nila alam na dalaga na po ako ngayon. Kumbaga, gusto ko pong malaman nila na hindi na ako si Hopia.”

Her nickname came from the fact that she was the chubby and funny kid who always lights up the show with her witty punchlines. However, seeing her now would make one wonder if she really was indeed the same girl we have all grown to love in “Goin’ Bulilit”. With her pretty chinita face, her new screen name Trina Legaspi really suits her.

When asked how she feels now that her former co-child stars Kathryn and Julia are now major stars, she admitted that she felt like she was somehow left behind. She also said she knows that she has to start from the beginning again, but she had no regrets prioritizing her studies over her showbiz career.

“Siguro hinayaan lang sa akin ni Lord na magtapos muna ako sa pag-aaral para wala na akong iintindihin at wala rin akong regrets. And now, sa tingin ko, ito na yung time ko sa career, focus na,” the former child star shared.

Hopia, or Trina Legaspi, said she is now ready to take on the challenges she might face, adding that she has her eyes on becoming a multi-media star who can sing, dance, act, and even host. The aspiring comeback actress said she trusts that God will help her achieve her dreams.
