There are plenty of people who are willing to go out of their way to help a stranger on the street – especially if an accident occurs. But there are also plenty of good-for-nothing individuals who are willing to take advantage of the kindness of others. A CCTV footage shared by a Facebook user named Hitori Tanaka showed how an old man pretended to be injured in a very convincing modus.
The viral video clip showed a busy unidentified street with a lot of motorized vehicles passing by. The street was quite narrow so pedestrians would have to wait for big cars to pass by before walking. But an old man saw that he could use this to his advantage.
In the video, we can see the scammer was wearing a purple t-shirt. He seemed like he was harmless and was just looking to cross the street. One would think that he was just waiting for the cars to pass by before walking but it turns out that he as waiting for the perfect opportunity.

When a silver car made its way down the street, the old man timed his approach and tried to go through the narrow space between an electric post and the vehicle. This man then purposely slammed himself on the side of the car.
Once the car stopped, the full-on dramatic display began. The scammer started crying and acting as if his leg was in pain due to the “hit.” Passers-by stopped to see what was going on and the female passenger of the car went down to care for the man.

He was taken to the sidewalk and they started talking. Unfortunately, the CCTV footage couldn’t pick up the conversation but we are assuming that he asked for money so that he could go to the hospital.
Since the CCTV only has one angle, we weren’t sure if the thing that was handed to the alleged victim was money or not. But after it was handed to him, the car drove off. The old man still kept up with his theatrics until the end but unfortunately for him, the CCTV footage revealed what really happened.
Netizens were very angry with this man’s clear modus operandi. Here’s what they had to say:
“Loko ka manong“ “san kaya siya ng workshop ?” “Kawawa naman yong may ari ng sasakyan” “Modus! Magaling na artista yan…” “Maraming marangal na mapagkakitaan para mabubay. Wag naman ganito, halatang Sya ang bumangga sa kotse. Maging patas lang manong.“
