Education is a universal right. However, poverty has become a hindrance for many to achieve proper education. In Uttar Pradesh, India, a man spotted a young girl who patiently studies under the fluorescent lights of a train station.
Rajesh Kumar Singh took a photo of a young girl who was seen barefooted lying on the floor at the busy station. She was later identified as Divya, who lives in a poor community without decent electricity. Every night, she would go to the train station with her bag filled with books and plenty of readings so she could do her homework for school.
According to reports, Uttar Pradesh, where Divya’s neighborhood belongs to, is one of the most populated and poorest state in the country. Hence, there’s a great number of poor families and out of school youth in the area.
Singh decided to share the photograph along with her touching story on social media. Many netizens expressed their admiration towards the inspiring determination of the young girl. Some also wish to help her.
Although the government has allotted a number of schools for the poor, some parents find it hard to support the needs of their kids. Good thing there’s still a handful of youngsters who have the courage and determination to strive harder in life.
