A child’s death is admittedly heartbreaking, especially for the infant’s parents. Thus, when a 1-year-old baby from Balagtas, Bulacan met her end, it goes without saying that people mourned for the passing of the little angel. However, it wasn’t solely her death which caught the public’s attention, but rather the reason behind it. Recently, news of the tragic incident sparked outrage on social media after she reportedly died when she choked on a hotdog.
According to a report from GMA News TV “QRT“, her mother, Grace Pariñas, was feeding her a hotdog which she tore into bite-sized pieces. In her statement, she mentioned that her daughter also spat out the said food shortly after.

Thinking that there was no more food left inside her child’s mouth, the unsuspecting mom left her child in order to get something upstairs. When she returned to her, however, Grace was shocked to see her baby struggling for breath.
The mom tried to rush her to the hospital, but it’s sad to say that her daughter was declared dead on arrival.

While this was an isolated case, barangay officials in their area reminded other parents to always check on their children—especially infants—to avoid the said accident.

Meanwhile, this incident caused a stir among concerned social media users after the news site posted it on Facebook. Needless to say, netizens are now holding the mother accountable for the death of her 1-year-old.

Dozens of Facebook users accused the mother of being irresponsible. According to them, only soft and easy to digest food should be fed to babies. One netizen commented that she should have given her child first aid treatment instead of waiting to rush her to the hospital. Still, some of the social media users who saw the news showed some sympathy to the grieving mom.
